En no katachi Kanazawa - Shapes and Shades of Kanazawa.

A curious vanity publication about the old castle town of Kanazawa (lit. ‘marsh of gold’). Even today Gold-leaf productions plays an important part in the town’s economy and culture. The present photo-book focuses on the traditional aspects of Kanazawa, its architecture, geisha culture, and gardens. The images have a slightly baroque feel. The photographer Tahara Keiichi was born in Kyoto in 1951. He emigrated to France and received numerous prizes including the 10th Kimura Ihei prize in 1984. This book was designed by Yamagata Toshio (1953-) and published to commemorate 80th Anniversary of the Takakuwa Art Printing Company. No copy in OCLC.
