Isamu Noguchi (1904-1988) is one of Japan’s most celebrated sculpture artists. Son of the Japanese poet Yone Noguchi and the American writer Leonie Gilmore, he studied sculpture with Brancusi and eventually rose to prominance in the 1930s with a series of stone and metal sculptures. The present book covers an installation of stone sculpures and paper lamps (Akari) at the Seibu department store in Yurakucho. Works 216.
