KHAYYÁM (Omar), FITZGERALD (Edward) & ASHENDENE PRESS
Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam of Naishapur, the Astronomer Poet of Persia, rendered into English Verse

Very good, spine rubbed at extremities and joints, slight scuffing to covers, edges lightly rubbed, internally fine. Hornby family copy from the collection of St. John Hornby’s sister, Catherine Gwendoline Hornby, presumably presented to her by the printer.

Colin Franklin describes the Ashendene Rubaiyat as ‘a successful book… the introductory essay (with italic headlines) was a rare example in private press history of a printer’s thoughtful, even scholarly involvement with his text. His intention was to print a version representing the best from previous editions.’
